Agricultural Chemicals - Insecticide
The term pesticide covers a wide range of compounds including insecticides, fungicides, herbicides, rodenticides, molluscicides, nematicides, plant growth regulators and others. Insecticides are an important part of crop management due to their effectiveness in killing insects. High populations of insects can significantly reduce crop yields.
Because insects make up 3/4 of all species on earth, they can be a big problem on a farm. Insects such as worms and beetles can infest a crop and destroy it. To keep this from happening many farmers will spray their crops with insecticides. Insecticides are strong chemicals that will kill the insects that will harm the crop without killing the actual crop. While insecticides are created for a variety of reasons and in a variety of application methods, the most important part of using them is reading each label carefully and applying them in the manner for which they are created.
